The abbreviation LEM comes from the German word for liner end cuff. This component in the Quick-Lock system from UHRIG is used to connect pipe liners to pipes and structures.

System description

The new Quick-Lock liner end cuff is a system for connecting pipe liners to pipes and to structures. The annular space between the liner and the old pipe is permanently sealed and the liner end is protected from the mechanical influences of high-pressure flush cleaning.

The new Quick-Lock Mini liner end cuff in the nominal widths DN 100, DN 125 and DN 150 with an overall length of 140 mm is a system for connecting house connection liners. The annular space between the liner and the old pipe is permanently sealed and the liner end is protected from the mechanical influences of high-pressure flush cleaning.

Function principle

  • The function of the liner end cuff is similar to the proven Quick-Lock system.
  • The EPDM rubber seal was designed in such a way that all common liner wall thicknesses (GRP) can be compensated for in the respective nominal width.

Requirements

  • To relocate the Quick-Lock liner end cuffs, all you need is a set of compressed air-operated cutting tools, a system-matched displacement bladder or, in accessible profiles, the Quick-Lock BIG displacement tool.

System advantages

  • Simple relocation process
  • durable materials
  • Building regulation approved
  • Leak-proof and high-pressure flush-resistant, ICT tested (DN 150 – DN 600)
  • Compensation for the shrinkage behaviour of GRP inliners

Scope of application

The correct application of the Quick-Lock liner end cuff depends on the respective manhole situation. There are three binding options for the liner end cuff:

1.) Integration of liner in the old pipe: The rule

2.) Pipe integration liner in the shaft: The prerequisite is that the surface of the pipe connection in the shaft is suitable for sealing and that there is no visible bending between the old pipe and the shaft connection. Max. angulation 1 degree.

3.) Cuff edge as plaster base: The flared cuff edge protrudes approx. 1-2 cm into the inside of the manhole and serves as a neat finish to the plastered pipe connection.

Materials

The materials used here, V4A stainless steel and EPDM rubber, have proven themselves in pipeline construction for decades. The stainless steel material quality 1.4404 (316L) is almost indefinitely durable in municipal wastewater.

The EPDM rubber seal corresponds to the current state of sealing technology in pipeline construction with a long life expectancy and very high level of resistance.

For special applications in industry, refineries and saline waters, we can provide you with the stainless steel sleeve in special alloys and the rubber seal in NBR quality upon request. For drinking water applications, we can provide you with a drinking water seal with KTW approval.

Delivery program

The Quick-Lock liner end sleeves are available in five configurations:

  • Variant 1: Overall length 250 mm, diameter DN 150-400, inner pipe pressure 10 bar, outer pipe pressure 1.5 bar (one-piece)
  • Variant 2: Overall length 300 mm, diameter DN 450-700, inner pipe pressure 10 bar, outer pipe pressure 1.5 bar (one-piece)
  • Variant 3: Overall length 400 mm, diameter DN 800, inner pipe pressure 10 bar, outer pipe pressure 1.5 bar (one-piece)
  • Variant 4: Overall length 365 mm, diameter DN 700-1300, inner pipe pressure 1 bar, outer pipe pressure 1 bar (two-part)
  • Variant 5: Overall length 365 mm, diameter DN 1400-1600, inner pipe pressure 1 bar, outer pipe pressure 1 bar (three-part)

You get Quick-Lock Mini LEM:

  • Overall length 140 mm, diameter DN 100, DN 125 and DN 150, inner pipe pressure 6.0 bar, outer pipe pressure 1.5 bar (one-piece)

Quality and proofs

The connection of pipe liner systems is regulated in the DWA data sheets:

  • DWA 143-5
  • DWA 143-3*

*Rehabilitation of drainage systems outside buildings, Part 3: Hose lining (hose lining hardening on site) for sewage pipes and sewers, user instruction 4.4.3.1 Connection in the manhole area.
